Directed by Ronald K. Brown and Arcell Cabuag, master educators and dance instructors, the SUMMER DANCE INTENSIVE offers today’s pre-professional and early career dancer a complete schedule of technique classes, repertory, mentorship and performance opportunities. The curriculum is designed to strengthen the versatility and virtuosity required of today’s professional dancer.

The Program

Repertory classes will supplement the warm-up and technique classes, allowing dancers to experience a professional rehearsal process. Dancers will not only learn EVIDENCE repertory, but also the fundamentals and expectations of a professional dancer in the dance studio.

The full-day DANCE INTENSIVE includes daily technique classes, where dancers will be guided through a series of stretching and conditioning exercises all in support of their flexibility, strength, and overall fitness. Information about injury prevention and techniques to maintain physical readiness will also be offered. Classes will end with signature movement phrases found in the choreography of Ronald K. Brown.

Eligibility

The Summer Intensive is intended for today’s pre-professional and early career dancers.

Who Should Apply

• Dancers ages 16+ (or rising juniors/seniors) with strong technical training
• Dancers interested in contemporary repertory and a professional rehearsal process
• Dancers looking to enhance their training and dance form competencies

Daily Schedule

• 11:00am – 12:30pm: Warm up & Technique Class taught by EVIDENCE Directors and Company Members.
• 1:00pm – 2:30pm: Technique Class
• 2:30pm – 3:15pm: Lunch Break
• 3:15pm – 5:00pm: Repertory Class taught by EVIDENCE Directors and Company Members, where students will learn excerpts of classic Ronald K. Brown repertory.

Community Performance

Students who participate in the Dance Intensive will perform in a community performance with EVIDENCE, A Dance Company on Saturday, August 22nd.

Join us for our free community performance featuring the students from our Summer Dance Intensive, along with EVIDENCE Dance.

Tuition: 

• Full Program: $750 (or $600 Early Bird Rate for registration before 7/15)
• One Week Program:
  • $400 August 10th – 14th
  • $400 August 17th – 21st*

*Participants registered for Week Two only will have the opportunity to learn and perform repertory excerpts taught during the second week of the Intensive.
